| Born in Denison, IA on April 28, 1870. Martha Miles studied with Vanderpoel at the AIC and in Paris. For seven years she had a studio in Buenos Aires and was one of the first women artists of Argentina. She was the wife of Lathan T. Jones. Moving to San Diego about 1922, she began to exhibit and was active in Los Angeles. During the 1930s she established Los Sureños Art Center and painted watercolors of flowers for the WPA Curriculum Project. She died in La Jolla, CA on Aug. 8, 1945.
