| Lydia Mariah Brewster Hubbard (1849-1911) was an early member of the still-existent New Haven Paint and Clay Club. She exhibited in the club's charter show in 1900. She was also part of the Laguna Beach, California art circle, spending part of each of her later years in that famous artists' colony. She studied with James Moser and exhibited still life and flower paintings in New Haven at the turn of the 19th and early 20th century.
Mrs. Hubbard was born Lydia Brewster in Cornwall, CT, moved to Ohio in her twenties, back to Connecticut in 1897, and made annual trips to California until she died in Los Angeles in 1911.
