| Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Ephraim Keyser was a sculptor noted for numerous commemorative monuments such as the statue toPresident Chester Arthur and the memorial bust to poet Sidney Lanier.
He studied with Widmann at the Royal Academy of Munich and with Albert Wolff at the Royal Academy in Berlin. In 1876, his figure "Psyche" won a silver medal at the Berlin Academy Exhibition.
In 1892, he returned to Baltimore where he became an instructor at the Maryland Institute of Arts.
