 The following information was submitted in October of 2006 by Max Leason: Born in Scotland in 1875, Australian artist Max Meldrum became a major influence in Australian art. A tonalist, he painted in a realist style, portraits, landscapes, and still-lives. Meldrum was educated at the Melbourne National Gallery School, receiving the National Gallery Scholarship prize in 1899.
