Oscar L. Bachelder was born 1852 in Menasha, Wisconsin, son of potter and craftsman Calvin Bachelder ( b. 1826 - d. 1906 ), who later worked at Bennington Pottery in Vermont. In 1911, Oscar and a partner Robert Gudger bought four acres of land in the North Carolina mountains and started a pottery. The partnership didn't last, but Oscar continued working there, making mostly art pottery. In 1916, he renamed the pottery Omar Khayyam Pottery, and continued working there u (showing 500 of 709 characters). |
