| | Born in Michigan on June 10, 1839. Widowed at an early age, Dunn appears to have moved to northern California in the 1860s. By 1868 she was a part of the social scene in Sacramento. During 1870-71 she travelled in Europe with artist Alice Chesley. In 1872 she moved from Sacramento to San Francisco where she remained. In that year at the Stanford Ball she was described as a beautiful brunette who attracted a throng of admirers. As well as a landscape painter, she was also a playwright; her five-act comedy, "The Governess" opened at the California Theater in 1873. She died on Feb. 9, 1923.
