Miss Letitia Thompson Maxwell was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, in 1886. She received her artistic training at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, under Elliot Daingerfield and Daniel Garber. After marrying, Mrs. Ely resided just north of New Hope and painted in both watercolor and oil.
Ely was a frequent exhibitor with the Phillips Mill Art Association and a member of the Washington Watercolor Club. She also exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the (showing 500 of 871 characters). |
