| Born in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 21, 1913 of Japanese parents. Taira studied at the CSFA, Columbia University, ASL of NYC, and the New School for Social Research. He was a resident of San Francisco until 1942 when he was interned in a relocation camp in Utah until 1944. He then settled in NYC and was living there in 1999. Working in oil and watercolor, his subjects include portraits, figures, landscapes, and animals. A realist, his style is a combination of occidental techniques and orienta (showing 500 of 838 characters). |
