Active much of her career in San Diego, California, Lydia Knapp Horton
was a painter in oil and watercolor and on china. Her artwork is
difficult to find.
She was originally from the Boston area, having been born in West
Newbury, Massachusetts. At age 25, she first went to California
when in 1868, she and her first husband, William Knapp, arrived in San
Diego where they stayed five years. Then the couple moved to San
Francisco, but in 1877, she returned to circ (showing 500 of 1110 characters). |
