The following information is from Michael Glicksman, nephew of the artist.
Philip Illman was born in 1898, and died in 1992. I've been told that he studied at the National Academy, NYC, and the Art Students' League, NYC. He was a student, close friend and, I gather, sort of a protoge of George Luks, with whom he shared a studio both in NYC ( I think, if my memory serves me correctly, it was in the Gramercy Park area), and also upstate in Old Chatham, NY.   (showing 500 of 1550 characters). |
