| | Born in West Bend, IA on Aug. 30, 1902. "Ajax" Jackson moved to California in 1920 and settled in Berkeley. Initially a painter, he abandoned painting for sculpting during the 1920s. He then studied at the CCAC under Bufano. The husband of artist Gordena Parker Jackson, he lived in the Berkeley hills in a house of his own construction until his demise on Aug. 10, 1987.
