| | Born in Ireland in 1834. O'Brien was a pupil of Castini in Rome, Italy during 1853-59. He then immigrated to NYC and in 1860 did a marble statue of Commodore Perry for the city of Cleveland. Arriving in San Francisco in 1864, he established a studio where he was kept busy with portrait busts.
