This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Stoke-on-Trent, England on March 27, 1877, Camille Solon was the son of artist Louis Solon who created ceramic vases. The younger Solon studied under his father and in London at the Slade School and University College.

In 1914 he immigrated to California. With his brother, Albert, he developed a ceramic therapy program for tuberculosis patients at the Arequipa Sanatorium in Fairfax.

During the years 1925-40 he was a designer and art director for W. R. Hearst at San Simeon.

He then moved north to Mill Valley where he remained until his death on Jan. 8, 1960.
