This biography from the Archives of AskART:

John Ulm was the Art Director of the McKeesport, Pennsylvania Daily News.  He was married to Eunice Jane Howell Ulm and had 2 children.  He lived in White Oak, PA, drove a black 57 Thunderbird hard-top convertible and had a small barn in his back yard for his beloved horse, Pancho.  The subject of his art was mainly American Indians, horses, cowboys and Spanish senoritas, but he did special drawings to commemorate the death of great people such as John Wayne and Elvis.  He did some commissioned art work for friends in Pittsburgh.  He was a great man with a dry wit and spectacular talent.
