An impressionist painter, her primary media include watercolor, charcoal, and pen & ink.
Born in Wisconsin, Ward graduated from Stanford University, and then studied at the Pratt Institute and the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, California. She spent time studying under Eliot O’Hara and Rudolph Schaefer.
After her academic training she remained in California, living in Carmel, and by 1932 she had settled in Stockton, California, where she taught art, and arts and crafts for many years at the University of the Pacific. A long time artist member of the prestigious Carmel Art Association, she was a founding member having been present at its very first meeting in 1927, at the home of Josephine Culbertson. Ward exhibited her works widely on the Monterey Peninsula, and throughout Central and Northern California. She never married, and died in Morgan Hill, California.
