Biography from Wallace Gallery:

Carrie Carter Wells or Carrie Lucinda Carter was born in Freeport, Long Island in 1867. She married Charles Wells (1866-1941) and moved to Mattituck, L.I. Here she became a close friend of Caroline M. Bell, often participating in exhibitions with other Peconic Bay Impressionists at the Bell studio on Love Lane in Mattituck.

At some unknown time, Wells moved to St. Augustine, Florida where she painted Florida subjects.
