This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Lucia Wiley was born and raised in Tillamook, Oregon, and then attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, earning her BA degree in 1928. In 1932, she received her MFA degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene, where she focused on researching and practicing the true art of fresco painting. In Minneapolis, she worked as a designer and began a serious career as a muralist.

From 1942 to 1945, she lived again in Tillamook and executed a post office mural. From 1945 to 1955, she was on the teaching staff of the Portland Art Museum, and then joined the Community of the Holy Spirit near Brewster, New York and from that time devoted herself to work of that Episcopal Order.

She has painted more than 2000 square feet of murals, most of them in fresco. Commissions include "Fishing Industry in Oregon" (1932) for the University of Oregon, "Indians Gathering Wild Rice" (1939) for the post office in Long prairie, Minnesota, and "Captain Gray's First Visit to the Oregon Coast-1788" (1943) for the post office in Tillamook.

She has also done painting and printmaking including numerous Oregon landscapes.
