This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Eufaula, Oklahoma, Fred Beaver was the son of Willie Beaver and Annie Johnson.  His paternal grandfather was Itshaus Micco, subchief of Okfuskee town group in Alabama, who moved his people to Oklahoma where the town of Eufaula now stands.

In 1931, Beaver graduated from Eufaula High School where he was an All-State football and basketball player.  He attended Bacone College and in 1935, graduated from Haskell Business College.  He became a clerk and interpreter under Five Civilized Tribes Agency for the Bureau of Indian Affairs until 1942 when he began serving three years in Europe in the U.S. Air Corps followed by a career in the Corps until 1960. During that time, he was also a private instructor in art and voice in Italy.

In 1945, he married Juanita D Brown.  At first he was interested in music and athletics but in 1945, began to paint as a hobby.  In 1960, he left his Air Corps career to devote himself full time to art and music.  In 1963, he won the Phillips Outstanding Indian Artist Trophy.  He was commissioned to paint a number of murals in businesses including the Thunderbird Restaurant and Motel and the Thunderbird Restaurant in Oklahoma City, and the Seminole Arts and Crafts Center in West Hollywood, Florida.

A resident of Ardmore, Oklahoma, he has had 19 one man shows and is in numerous public and private collections including the Stephen Foster Memorial in White Springs, Florida; the Hotel Lawtonka in Ardmore; the Philbrook Art Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the Heard Museum in Phoenix.
