A
noted equine artist, Allen F. Brewer, Jr. received attention for his
paintings of horsemen, and for his oils, watercolors and drawings.
Critics
have praised him for the skill of his composition, perspective,
handling of light and shadow, and ability to suggest by external
appearance the underlying structure of bone and muscle. Horsemen
have expressed admiration for his ability to reproduce an exact likeness
of a particular horse.
