| George Aden Ahgupuk was born on October 8, 1911 in Shishmaref, Alaska. His Eskimo name was Twok meaning “man”. He died on April 1, 2001 in Alaska. His career as an artist started in 1934 during a several months long stay at a hospital to treat tuberculosis.
