Samuel Adolph Cashwan
26 Dec. 1899 Born in Cherkassy, near Kiev, Russia. 1906 Family immigrates to NYC. 1914 Begins modeling in clay. 1916 Moves to Detroit, Michigan. 1918 Serves in the US Army being honorably discharged at the end of WWI. 1918 Earns scholarship to the Architectural League in NYC. Studies architectural sculpture. 1919 Executes a commissioned monument presented by the US to Belgium. 1923-1927 Earns scholarship to Ecole des Beaux Arts in (showing 500 of 2080 characters). |
