Son of surrealist painter Matta, Gordon Matta-Clark was part of a generation of modernists in the mid 1960s and early 1970s who experimented with a variety of media. His work focusing on remnants from abandoned buildings combines Minimalism, Conceptual and Performance Art.

Although he died at age 35 from cancer, he gained renown for his architectural projects in which he cut whole sections of floors, ceilings, or roofs to expose the hidden spaces in between. In this way, he made hi (showing 500 of 1059 characters).
