A landscapist, William Hoey at one time resided at 805 West 16th Street in Austin, Texas. (This information was provided by a collector who saw this address on the back of his charcoal landscape drawing by Hoey).
In a semi-realist style, Hoey painted Southwest landscapes, many of them dramatic scenery such as that of the Rio Grande River Valley. He was also a distinguished teacher. He was Dean of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts Alfred Glassell School of Art and then taught at the Universi (showing 500 of 4135 characters). |
