The following information was submitted in February 2006 by Melissa Hinshaw-Owens, a Hinshaw family researcher from Ohio: At
the age of 19, Julia Hinshaw was shown in the 1880 census (June 11 1880)
as living in a boarding house in Batavia, Genesee County, New York.
She
later studied art with Charles Melville Dewey in New York and married
her teacher on May 3, 1887. She maintained a studio at 222 West
23rd St., New York City, which the census of 1890 showed as th (showing 500 of 1319 characters). |
