| Born in St Petersburg, Russia on April 25, 1897. Raised in affluence, Ivanoff was educated by tutors and at the Imperial School of Commerce where he began his art studies. During WWI he served as an officer in the Czar's army. In 1923 he moved to San Francisco and continued his art studies at the CSFA. Ivanoff remained a resident of San Francisco for the rest of his life except for a period in the early 1930s when he lived in Los Angeles. He died at the Stanford University Hospital on Jan.
