This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following biography is from the artist:

Patsy Ann Ledbetter was born in Spindale, North Carolina in 1936, but spent her youth living with her family in Houston, Texas. She studied art at the University of Houston and on Scholarship with the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. She has studied with other artists that she admires.

She is one of those women who married and had a family and decided on an Art Career late in life. She won many awards with her Art Work and decided to teach art after her husband died in 1982. She taught for about 10 years. Because the demand for her paintings became so great, she gave up teaching and began to paint full time for the galleries that represented her.

"Southwest Art Magazine" recognized her work in November of 1996, in an article by Lauren Knode. She won an Award of Merit in the Oil Painters of America Regional Show in 1994. She was given Signature Status with the Oil Painters of America in 1993.

She paints in an impressionistic style, combining it with realism to achieve the desired effect.

Ledbetter is best known for her paintings of the Texas Hill Country and especially her somewhat impressionistic Blue Bonnet painting. She is equally proficient with Still Life and plans to do more of them in the future.
