This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is courtesy of Pauline Ward of Toronto, Canada:

Born March 25, 1929 at the Tesuque Peublo, New Mexico, Patrick Hinds became a teacher, lecturer, silk-screen processor, and after 1958, a full-time painter working in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and printmaking.  He used a variety of techniques including palette knife, oil on paper, dry brush, soft brush with spatter and mixed media.

Hinds lived in Berkeley, California where he attended St. Mary's College High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea.

He became the adopted son of Dr. Norman A.E. Hinds, honorary member of Tesuque Pueblo and Professor of Geology at the University of California for 45 years.

Biography from Adobe Gallery:
Patrick Swazo Hinds was a painter from the Tesuque Pueblo in New Mexico.  He was adopted at the age of 9 by a California family and grew up off the reservation but returned every summer to Tesuque.   As a result of living in two worlds, Swazo does painting that reflects a combination of the traditional with a more modern style and combins his Native American inheritance by birth with education and exposure to a wide variety of non-Indian artists and their work.
