| A figure, portrait and equine painter, usually of western subjects,
Margo Petterson is a member of
the California Art Club, Women Artists of the West and Oil Painters of
America.
She was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San
Fernando Valley where she attended a private high school in
Burbank. In 1961, she received a degree in fine art and then
studied with Edward Runci for several years.
She lives in Coleville, California.

| Primarily known for her impressionistic oils, Margo Petterson´s trademark has always been her Feminine Westseries, depicting the women of the early West. She has also become known in recent years for her equine art, focusing mainly on Draft Horses, the wild mustangs and Indian paints of the western prairie.
Her recent paintings can be seen at the Cattlemen´s Western Art Show in Paso Robles, CA; Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Canada; the C.M. Russell Art Auction in Great Falls, Mt.; Treasure State Art Show in Hamilton, Mt.; Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, Ca., and the Empire 100 Western Art Show.
Petterson can also be found in Who´s Who in American Art and Who´s Who in America. Her work has been published in Art of the American West, Directional Publishing Company and Inspirations Unlimited, to name a few.
Membership in professional organizations include Signature Member of the Women Artists of the West (WAOW), Equine Art Guild, Artist Member of the California Art Club, Associate Member of the American Academy of Equine Art, and the Eastern Sierra Professional Artists Group.
Petterson has won numerous awards including Best of Show at the Draft Horse Classic, Western States Horse Expo, Snake River Showcase. She was 2003 Poster Artist for the Cowboy Poetry Festival in Big Bear Lake, California.
She lives with her husband in the High Sierra´s, in Coleville, CA.
