This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 6, 1917, George Warren Booth grew up in the Midwest to pursue his interest in art, graduating with honors from Ohio University’s School of Painting and Applied Arts in 1942.  After graduation he was with the U.S. Signal Corps as a supervisor for animation training films during the war, and later worked as a technical illustrator for Hughes Aircraft in Culver City, California.  He continued his studies at the Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles, the John Huntington Polytechnic Institute, and the Dayton Art Institute.

As a senior art director in New York City from 1947 to 1980, he received over thirty-five professional awards while at the J. Walter Thompson, Gardner Advertising, and Ted Bates agencies.  He retired from his commercial career while working as an art director at Avon in NYC. In addition to his advertising accomplishments, his ongoing interest in painting resulted in numerous solo and group exhibitions in New York, Florida, Virginia, California, Texas, and Washington, DC.

and A member of the Society of Illustrators, the New York Art Directors Club, and the New York Artists Equity Association, George Warren Booth moved to Ocala, Florida in 1980 because of his interest in the breeding and beauty of thoroughbred horses, and his love of equine art.  As a member of the Florida Breeders and Owners Association, he bred the stakes winners Scat DancerAmerican Artist.

Mr. Booth’s paintings have been featured in the equine magazines The Blood Horse and Florida Horse, as well as on many covers of The Thoroughbred Owner.

Written and Submitted by Robert Booth, son of the artist, and Distinguished Teaching Professor of Visual Arts and New Media at SUNY, Fredonia, New York.
