Born 1934 Murano, Italy, Lino RTagliapietra began apprenticeship at 12 years old and became a maestro at age 21.
"Lino Tagliapetra, the internationally renowned glassmaker and
designer, has had a significant influence on glassmaking
worldwide. While insular and secretive attitudes have marked the
Muranese glass industry for centuries, he has always encouraged the
free exchange of ideas. Mr. Tagliapietra is able to interpret and
translate concepts into hot glass that would be impossible without his
