| | William R.Delacour (1883-1962)
Stained-glass designer. Born in Youghal, Ireland on November 14, 1883. At age 14 Delacour was an apprentice at a stained-glass firm. In 1904 he immigrated to San Francisco and studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute while working as a designer for the Sierra Glass Company. After the 1906 earthquake, he moved across the bay to Oakland and established his own stained-glass company. He became a prosperous and prominent citizen of Oakland and remained in the East Bay until his death in Hayward on November 25, 1962. | Source: Edan Hughes, "Artists in California, 1786-1940"
