| Known works of the artist are landscapes of the desert and mountains as well as scenes around Arcadia, California which was his place of residence when he died at St. Luke's Hospital in Pasadena.
His brother Clarke Elsworth Gilhousen(b.December 12, 1869 in Kahoka, Missouri) was listed as being in the photography business until 1899 and later in real estate and mining in 1901 in Los Angeles. Information provided by L. Robinson

| Born in Missouri on Sept. 22, 1876, Gilhousen moved to Pasadena in 1899. An investor in mining and oil, he was also a fine amateur painter.
