| | Bessie Ball Mays was born in Ohio on April 16, 1876. Mays moved to Los Angeles in 1903. During the 1920s she worked as an artist; at the time of her death she was a real-estate agent and a resident of Laguna Beach. She died in Los Angeles on Feb. 7, 1969. | Source:
