| Born in La Rochelle, France in 1820. Prevost studied art in Paris under Horace Vernet and Paul de la Roche before coming to the U.S. While employed in NYC by the lithography firm of Sarony & Major, he made two trips to California. He drew on stone two views of San Francisco in 1847 and 1849 which were printed by his firm. In NYC in 1857 he established that city's first photography studio. He also taught drawing, painting, and chemistry at a school for young ladies. Prevost died in NYC in A (showing 500 of 708 characters). |
