Ferdinand Pauwels was a Belgian painter of historical scenes. In 1842 when Pauwels was age of twelve years, he was a student at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten Antwerp and was there until 1850, mostly taught by Jules Dujardin and Gustave Wappers.
During his training, he was able to successfully make his debut in the Academy exhibitions. His work Coriolanus before Rome was painted in 1852 and he was awarded the Prix de Rome. Associated with this price was a generous sc (showing 500 of 1225 characters). |
