| Charles R. Pettit was born in Nebraska on Jan. 16, 1898. Pettit was a deck boy on a ship before settling in San Francisco in 1920.
He pursued a career as a stock broker while painting as a hobby. He died in Santa Clara, CA on August 13, 1976.
