Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse trained as a goldsmith, then entered Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1840 under Pierre-Jean David d’Angers.  He went to Petite Ecole to study, worked in London from 1850 to 1855, designing ceramics and metalwork models .  In 1857, he exhibited sculptures at the Salon, received medals and important commissions.  1851 to 1870, Emperor Napoleon III hired him to work on the rebuilding of Paris.

Styles: naturalism, Realism, neo-Baroque, and Rococo.  He instructed Auguste Rodin.
