The following information was submitted by R. Whiteley: Hermanus Koekkoek Jr. also known as J Van Couver was born in Amsterdam December 8, 1836, died London, and was buried June 4, 1909 in Den Haag (The Hague). He had lived and worked in Amsterdam, Nieuwer-Amstel 1859-1860, London 1863, then Amsterdam but left in 1869 for London again. He studied with his father Hermanus Koekkoek, and painted mainly seascapes; later, when living in London, he devoted himself to the art trade and when paint (showing 500 of 1156 characters). |
