Ricardo Arredondo Calmache Arredondo (Cella, Teruel, 1850-Toledo, 1911) was a Spanish painter.  He came to Toledo at twelve years of age together with his father and brothers, under the protection of his uncle, the eldest of the kings chaplain, Francisco Arredondo and Villanueva.  He attended Matias Moreno's workshop and then moved to Madrid to continue his training at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving, as a student of Charles de Haes.  He also traveled to Paris, where he became acquainted with Ernest Meissonier.

He participated in some editions of the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, obtaining third medal in 1884 and 1895, with the paintings entitled A Garden Misfortune hunting and Toledo, as well as decoration in the editions of 1899 and 1901 (the first in the art section decorative).  He also attended the art exhibition in Bilbao in 1894, receiving a third medal.

Specializing in the natural landscape, the views of the city of Toledo and the Tajo and its banks were a constant theme of his painting, to the point where he is known as the Painter of Toledo.  His love for the city, which he shared with his friend the painter Vincent Cutanda and Toraya, led him to be Toledo City Councilor and member of the Landmarks Commission.  From this committee, he participated in the artistic direction of restoration work.  He was also member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Toledo.
