Arnold Borisovich Lahkovsky (b.1880 / d.1937)

Arnold Lahkovsky was born on January 15, 1880 in Chernobyl, Russia.  
Lahkovsky finished his studies in 1902 at Odessa Art School studying under K. Kostandi and L. Iorini.  From 1902 to 1904, he studied at the Art Academy in Munich.  Lahkovsky then attend the Higher Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1904 to 1909 and again in 1911 to 1912.

Lakovsky spent time living and traveling abroad from 1901 to 1917 in such places as Palestine, St. Petersburg, Italy, France, Belgium and Finland.

Teaching Positions:
Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem 1909-1911
Higher Women's Architectural Courses in St. Petersburg 1912-1914
School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston c.1933

Lakovsky worked as an illustrator at the magazine Petrogradand, Niva, Ogonek, Vershina, Solnze Rossi and others.  He also designed books by K.I Chukovsky.

Beginning in 1907, Lakovsky had exhibitions at the Imperial Academy of Arts, the Izdebsky's Salon, Society of Russian Watercolors, International Exhibition of Art in Venice, the New Society of Artists, the Society of Independent Artists and others.  He was a member and an exhibitor of the A. I. Kuindzhi Society of Artists in 1915, Jewish Society for the Encouragement of the Arts 1916 to 1918, the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions from1912 to 1918.  Here he became a member in1916.

Lahkovsky died in New York on January 7, 1937
