 Brother of Sir William Orpen, Richard Orpen was both an artist and architect. He excelled particularly in watercolor, as well as cartooning and caricature, and exhibited with both the WCSI and the Black and White Artist’s Society of Ireland. He also often collaborated with Percy French in putting on entertainments, Orpen executing lightning sketches and caricatures with great ease and affable charm.
