Fritz Faiss (1905-1981)
Born in the Black Forest of Germany, March 6, 1905, Fritz Faiss was a student of Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky at the Bauhaus. The Nazis declared him a "degenerate artist", and he was forbidden to paint, to exhibit, or to send his work out of Germany.
During World War II, he was a political prisoner in a Nazi forced labor camp. After the war the American Military Government in Pforzheim sponsored an exhibition of his work. He left behind (showing 500 of 1819 characters). |
