 Chen Jialing was born in Hangzhou in 1937, studying figure painting with the master Pan Tianshou at the Zhejiang Art Academy from 1958-1963, and landscape painting and calligraphy with Lu Yanshao. He won an award in the National Art Exhibition in 1985 for his work 'Let Go', and has exhibited in China, Japan and America.
