Irene Hendrick paints figurative works from the 1940's Post-World War II England period. These artworks are formed from stories told to her by her mother. Hendrick work from old photographs and builds up the images layer by layer, adding and erasing as she comes to terms with a specific memory or idea. She leaves the final painting vague so the viewer can insert his or her own story. |
