Alexander Cañedo was born in Mexico City in 1902 to a Spanish father and an American mother. At the age of 15, Cañedo went to Paris where he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts. The noted sculptor Jean Magrou recognized his talent and became his teacher. In 1923, Cañedo went to Rome to further his studies.
After a trip to Mexico in 1927, Cañedo was appointed attaché to the Mexican Embassy in Rome, and the following year he held his first exhi (showing 500 of 2033 characters). |
