Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data compared to the extensive information about American artists.

Born in 1958, Saied Dai began his studies in fine art when he attended Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design where he achieved his degree in Fine Art, specifically Painting.  He went on to study Painting at the Royal Academy of Arts, London.  Dai was elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2004.

Since then, Dai has had numerous exhibitions in Britain and is a regular exhibitor at The Mall Galleries, London 'Discerning Eye' Exhibition and The Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition held at the Mall Galleries, London.

Dai is the recipient of numerous awards including the Gold Medal at the Annual Exhibition of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, prizes at the B.P. Portrait Award Exhibition, National Portrait Gallery, London, and the Young Contemporaries, Christie's, London.

When at the Royal Academy Schools, among his teachers were Peter Greenham, Roderick Barrett, William Scott and Leonard Rosoman.  Dai was regarded highly enough to be invited back to teach drawing under Leonard McComb.

Dai says "I was fortunate to be taught art as architecture. Drawing reveals the way an artist thinks.  It means by which one makes visual relationships."
