Born near Lucas, Kansas on January 20, 1900 and died Lucas, July 22, 1999, Florence Deeble was a self-taught artist and teacher. She taught school in Osborne and Lucas for forty-two years.
She began working on her backyard environment in the 1930s building a pool for lilies and goldfish. From 1950-99, she created backyard postcard scenes such as Mount Rushmore, Estes Park and an Indian Pueblo from colored cement and unusual rocks.
