Biography from American Museum of Natural History:
| Joseph Guerry was trained at Missouri University, Kansas City Art School, and the Art Students League in New York. He served as an artist at the American Museum of Natural History for thirty-seven years.
The leopard diorama in the Akeley Hall of African Mammals is a fine example of Guerry's ability as a background painter. He also worked as a foreground and graphic artist throughout his career at the museum.
