Wesley Dean Simpson was born September 23, 1937 in Horton, Kansas. He earned a BA in painting from Kansas State Univ. in 1965 and a BFA and MFA from the Univ. of Nebraska, Lincoln. Taught at the Univ. of Wisconsin, Green Bay, 1970-73 and at the Univ. of Texas, Odessa, beginning in 1974.
