Alexander Rodchenko was born in St. Petersburg, Russia on November 23, 1891. In the turbulent years after the Russian Revolution, Rodchenko devoted his energies to painting, industrial and graphic design. He shared a studio in Moscow with his wife, artist Varvara Stepanova. Their apartment was large by Moscow standards, having two bedrooms and a parlor in addition to the studio; nothing has changed significantly since 1935. It is the home of three generations of the Rodchenko family and the stud (showing 500 of 1684 characters). |
